Daily Look: The Blues

Shirt, Bracelet: J. Crew // Rings, Bracelet: Madewell // Pants, Necklace: Ann Taylor // Shoes: Nine West // Earrings: Loft // Sunglasses: Cole Haan via Marshall's // Nails: Forever 21 Fuchsia // Lips: MAC Girl About Town

When I look at the clothes I've bought in the last year or so, I notice a definite trend: blue. Blue dresses, blue blouses, blue pants, blue everything! I'm reminded of the amazing cerulean scene in The Devil Wears Prada when Miranda Priestly traces the origins of Andy's "lumpy blue sweater," and I'm pretty sure there's a two-years-ago runway show I can thank for the new color of my closet. And as much as I love blue, I'm pretty sure I need to branch out a bit, except--oops!--I just bought a chambray sundress.

Have you been buying a lot of blue (or another color) clothes lately, or is it just me?

Daily Look: Outdoor Wedding

Dress: Francesca's // Shoes: Jessica Simpson via Marshall's // Earrings: Old Navy // Rings: The Limited

After the outdoor rehearsal dinner that I attended last Friday, I was more prepared for their afternoon wedding the next day.  I slathered on the sunscreen, doused myself in bug spray, and chose the breeziest dress that I own.  Wedges were also a must for navigating my way through the field where it took place.  I still ended up pretty darn hot when we moved to the barn for the reception, but when you're attending an outdoor wedding in Texas, I think that's just to be expected.

It was a truly Texan event from the grazing field where they exchanged their vows to the sweet tea that flowed through the reception.  And although I was feeling that Texan sun in my dress, I am thankful that I didn't have to wear the cowboy boots and khaki suit that Lloyd and the other groomsmen were rocking all afternoon.

Daily Look: Lazy Long Weekend

Shirt, Cutoffs: Gap // Shoes: Converse via Marshall's // Bracelet, Rings: Madewell, Etsy

I enjoyed a very relaxing, lazy long weekend of binge-watching Orange is the New Black and eating a lot of delicious food (the recipe for a perfect weekend, at least in my book). I wore this outfit to grab dinner before grocery shopping, and I realized pretty quickly that I may have made a mistake when I picked shorts instead of jeans. I shivered my way through the produce department, but I guess it was my fault for dressing for the weather and not the dairy case.

How was your long weekend (if you got one)?

Daily Look: Rehearsal Dinner

Dress: Modcloth // Sweater: Anthropologie // Shoes: Bandolino via Endless // Earrings: Francesca's // Necklace: Gift // Rings: Vintage

I wore this outfit to a friend's rehearsal dinner last weekend.  Of course, when I arrived and realized that it would be taking place in a field, I quickly ditched my sweater.  Summer in Texas can be pretty brutal, but by the time the sun started to set and a cool breeze got going, it turned out to be a beautiful evening.

It was so pretty out in the country, with the cows mooing and fireflies lighting up the night.  Plus we enjoyed the very Texan scenery while eating a quintessentially Texan meal--chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, biscuits, and chocolate pie, YUM!  A few fewer mosquitoes and I would call it a perfect night.  I'm still itching!

Daily Look: Piped and Striped

Blouse: Ann Taylor // Skirt: ModCloth // Shoes: Zara // Earrings: Target // Bracelets: Forever 21 // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Nails: Forever 21

When I was looking for a top to wear with this skirt, I gravitated toward this blouse because I liked how its piping went with the white stripes on the skirt. It was obviously meant to be. I felt very springy in this shirt, which reminds me of orange sherbet, but I think it might actually be summer because it now takes almost the entire drive home from work before my air conditioning fully kicks in. But hey, there are only two more weeks of school, so I can't complain.

Is it spring or summer where you live?

Daily Look: Blown Away

Blouse: The Limited // Skirt & Shoes: ModCloth // Earrings: Etsy // Rings: Vintage

I am not a fan of wind, but I will say it sure makes a full skirt look cute!  Sadly, I can't say the same for how it makes my hair look.  I wore this outfit to my boyfriend's brother's graduation last weekend in Waco, and fought the wind the entire time.  It was a lengthy ceremony and the air conditioning was blasting, but, in the end, the diploma was handed over.  After snapping some pictures and pigging out at the house, I swapped my fancy duds for some cutoffs, and went fishing for the rest of the afternoon.  I love skirts and dresses, but there isn't much that can compare with wearing clothes that are grubby enough to let you freely lay in the grass.

Daily Look: Dress Mondays

Dress: ABS (on consignment) // Shoes: Zara // Earrings: Loft // Bracelet: Gift // Sunglasses: Ray-Ban // Lips: Revlon Balm Stain in Lovesick

Sunday nights are the worst (well, after Monday mornings). There's always that moment when you realize that the weekend is officially over and the work week is just around the corner. Showers have to be taken, lunches have to be made, and outfits have to be chosen. Yeah, I'm a do everything possible the night before kinda gal (and if I could put my makeup on ahead of time, I'd do that too). And in an effort to make the process of picking out an outfit as painless as possible, I've taken to wearing dresses on Mondays. There's nothing easier than slipping on a ready-made outfit, after all.

What's your process for picking out tomorrow's outfit?
